Why Did He Have to Die study guide – a Remembrance of Jesus, the Passover Lamb
When I was a kid -like 7, my best friend was a Persian Jew. At 7, that meant her family ate foods I didn’t recognize and their house had this amazing spice smell that was only at their house. Otherwise we played Barbies, Barry Manilo albums, and watched original Charlies Angels episodes… like other 7 yr olds? She always played Jacqueline and I was Farrah… sorry Kate. (there may have occasionally also been slime battles involved) But the other wonderful thing about being her best friend was I got invited to Passover. Never heard of it before and not much religious instruction at all at my goyim house – so it was very impressionable. Gathering round a long table (or the kids table) and more aromas and special plates and fancy things like a silver tea urn and actual sugar cubes, and we wore little lacy yamakas, and dipped green onions in salt water and sprinkled each other, and then had to be quiet when the Bible got passed around the table for readings. So, I loved Passover and everything Jewish from that young special invitation into something obviously very important and meaningful… I just didn’t know what it meant, then.
Now many miles later and a seasoned sinner who now really loves scripture and has accepted Jesus as my Messiah, Lord, Savior, and King of Kings, I want to celebrate Passover. -What it actually means, and how it helps me understand Jesus and His love. Please let me share some verses and praises and feel free to sprinkle some salt water, or tears, if you feel so led.
